Life slows down in January....

The decorations are down, the parties are over, the company has gone home, the sweets are all eaten,  the drinks have been downed, and my home is back to normal!

I am now settling in for a long winter - January and February can be quite challenging in central NY!

  1. Patti, you are on top of things! I know it feels good to have your home back to normal. Stay warm and cozy!
The sweets are all eaten here, but the decorations are still out. I need to tackle that task this week, knowing me probably slowly. I don't mind packing up most, but I like the twinkle of the tree to linger as long as possible. This morning I noticed that a string of lights had gone out. Not good, but likely a sign it's time to retire this tree. Happy New Year!

  2. doesn't it feel good?? the quiet calm of your home after such crazy times?? I'm sitting in front of my fire on a cold rainy afternoon with nary an ounce of guilt to be had!! Decor is put away for another year and my kitchen has a tiny "closed" sign on it -- did that just to get a rise out of the husband! I'm even kind of looking forward to some cold dreary days....granted, our januarys in the deep south are a bit different from where you are~~
    Let's relax for a while....we deserve it!!

  4. Winter, most definitely, can be challenging! It does feel good to have even the slightest sense of normalcy once all the guests, decorations, food, etc are gone. Cheers to whatever curve balls may come our way in 2019!

  5. I haven't quite gotten things that under control yet Patti, I admire you for being so organized! I decided I would purge and reorganize decorations as I put them away, so currently my dining room is the catch all area and it's a disaster zone 😂 We have had miserable weather, it has rained just about everyday and it's so depressing! Not like the winter challenges you face in NY, but I need sunshine!! I am looking forward to a quiet January, and doing some projects I haven't had time for. Happy New Year!

  6. We are having an actual winter here in Southern California. We are enjoying tucking in on rainy days and I'm actually tackling the stack of books by my bed.
