We spent the past weekend in the Adirondacks. Our first stop was Fish Creek, a camping ground where my husband spent many summers camping with his family....
...there were many campers there and the weather was in the 80's...
...which is rare for the end of September!
Our next stop was at the Big Tupper Brewery, in Tupper Lake, for lunch and a beer...
...and then we spent the afternoon in Lake Placid - a bustling little town...
...where the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics were held. We walked around the skating rinks from both Olympics, roamed the town and
... enjoyed cocktails overlooking Mirror Lake ...
...and Whiteface Mountain, and then had a late dinner in town.
The next day we drove along the Ausable River...
To visit Whiteface Mountain...
...and we took the gondola to Little Whiteface...
...which overlooks Lake Placid Lake...
...and Whiteface Mountain and its ski trails.
Our next stop was the High Falls Gorge...
...a walk along the Ausable River gorge through the woods..
...was very relaxing on a very hot day ...
Our next stop was back in town...
...at the Lake Placid Brewery for lunch and a local beer.
We spent the night in Saranac Lake...they also have a brewery!!
Sadly, the Adirondacks had little foliage - something about the rainy July and the sugar maples and the hot days of September....but we still enjoyed the getaway!
And look at what I found - a black and white butterfly!!
