Vegetable noodles....

I love squash...especially zucchini and summer squash.

I use my spiralizer quite often to slice it thinly....

...and I saute quite quickly in EVOO, butter, garlic, red pepper flakes and veggie seasoning...

....and ready to eat...

YUM!

A Weekend in the Adirondacks...

We spent the past weekend in the Adirondacks.  Our first stop was Fish Creek, a camping ground where my husband spent many summers camping with his family....

...there were many campers there and the weather was in the 80's...

...which is rare for the end of September!

Our next stop was at the Big Tupper Brewery, in Tupper Lake, for lunch and a beer...

...and then we spent the afternoon in Lake Placid - a bustling little town...

...where the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics were held.  We walked around the skating rinks from both Olympics, roamed the town and

... enjoyed cocktails overlooking Mirror Lake ...

...and Whiteface Mountain, and then had a late dinner in town.

The next day we drove along the Ausable River...

To visit Whiteface Mountain...

...and we took the gondola to Little Whiteface...

...which overlooks Lake Placid Lake...

...and Whiteface Mountain and its ski trails.

Our next stop was the High Falls Gorge...

...a walk along the Ausable River gorge through the woods..

...was very relaxing on a very hot day ...

Our next stop was back in town...

...at the Lake Placid Brewery for lunch and a local beer.

We spent the night in Saranac Lake...they also have a brewery!!

Sadly, the Adirondacks had little foliage - something about the rainy July and the sugar maples and the hot days of September....but we still enjoyed the getaway!

And look at what I found - a black and white butterfly!!

MacKenzie-Childs Table Setting and Painting on Fabric...

Everything seems to coordinate with the Courtly Check pattern by MacKenzie-Childs...

...the black flower market salad dishes are new to my collection...

...and they match my new painted tablecloth...

...did you know that you can paint on fabric?  The fibers in cotton fabric absorb the acrylic paint and it won't wash out!

The painted fabric is trimmed in black and white striped fabric to tie in with the checks on the dishes...

...and the M-C glassware...

....it was a perfect setting for salad and pasta...

....our large outdoor table set has been stored away for the winter...

...so this small, folding table was perfect for 2...

...napkins were tied around the flatware so they wouldn't blow away in the wind...

...and the highball glasses were used for water - no wine with dinner tonight...

...these wrought iron stands are perfect for enamel bowls...

...because when you put anything in or on enamel, it holds the heat, so these stands keep the bowls off the table!

We are enjoying the last few warm days of dining al fresco!

The Color of September

Last month I posted that the color of August was yellow....September was similar however it is a little more brilliant and warmer, mostly a golden yellow and gold!

The color gold is the color of extravagance, wealth, riches, and excess, and shares several of the same attributes of the color yellow.

The beach has closed...

...the boats are going into storage...

...the "No Hunting" signs are posted...

...school is back in session...

...and the pumpkins are being picked...

...the sun shadows are warming up...

...the decorating has brought out some warm golden colors...

...and the autumn glow shines in each sunset!

Happy Golden September!
