The Color of Syracuse in the Winter.....

When I moved to the Syracuse, NY area 36 years ago, I remember noticing immediately that the winters were gray and gloomy, with very little sun!

This is the "Color of Syracuse" in the winter:

And that is exactly why I am anxious for spring!

The snow is so pretty - but I'm ready for spring...

One thing I can say about the Syracuse area is that the roads are cleared up quickly after days of snow!

I was beginning to get "cabin fever" after spending a few days in the house!

So I finally got to run some errands the other day....

...and take a few photos.

It certainly doesn't look like we got about 15" snow, but we did, and I am sure there's more to come!

And there was....

This morning it was about 10' and the trees were frozen over...

Again, it was pretty, but I will welcome spring if it would like to arrive early!

It's still snowing...

We are having our share of snow this week, and I am still snowed in, so today I pulled out a few Valentine decorations...

....and of course some Conversation Hearts...

...and my Susan Branch books...

...and some chocolates...

...to tempt me on the counter!

And I decorated the front door...

...and my poor heart is dusted in snow...

...and here is the view out front!!

I would guess it has to end soon - right?

I am snowed in.....

Snowy days are great days to clean, organize and toss.  I started in my closet where I keep my sewing cabinet...

...the drawers were a mess and it was time to "neaten them up"...

...this is a cute sewing stand that I painted a few years ago...

...and it keeps all my supplies in one place!

As I was organizing that, I noticed dust on my lamp shade...

...which led to me dusting/vacuuming every lampshade in my home...

...and as I was doing that...

...I wondered why I have so many lamps...

...because every room has ceiling lights...

...and there is very little need for lamps...

...and, I also wondered...

...if lamps are accessories...

...and I have absolutely no answer...

...but this one has a purpose...

...it's a nice night light for the kitchen!

That chore led me to notice that my 6 panel doors also needed dusting...

...and the morning room floor needed washing...

Boy, I am hoping this storm passes by quickly, but they are saying 2 feet will most likely drop in 48 hours - ugghhhh!

The snow is blowing....

...and covering the windows...

I am off to organize some kitchen cupboards while I still have some energy left....

Tea and the Snow....

We finally got some snow and when a friend stopped by.....

...a cup of tea was what we needed to take off the chill...

...we had about 13", which really isn't a lot for central NY...

...so we sat in the living room, near the window...

...watching the flurries dance in the air, drinking Rooibos tea...

...and eating some of those tea cakes I made the other day...

...they were pretty, but I won't be making them again!

The next day my husband and I went out to play in the snow and made this:

 And then this happened:

More snow is on its way today!

The Joke Was On Me....

I tried a new recipe for a chicken casserole....

...and also a recipe for mini tea cakes:

I think Pinterest and Bloggers are playing tricks on me....

Both recipes were just OK and will not be prepared again...

The casserole had little flavor and the cakes were soggy!

Do you have any luck with new recipes you find online?
