Drying fresh herbs for gift giving!

Before I left for the Cape, I cut my oregano plant down to the ground.

You probably know that I do not have a green thumb, but I am lucky with herbs.  It grew back quite quickly:

Today I cut the herb back again….

…and decided to dry the herbs.

I stripped the leaves off the stems...

…and dried them in the microwave, one minute at a time, for 3 minutes:

I placed some of the dried oregano in plastic zip bags...

…and placed that into a paper bag...

…adding a label and a paper parasol as a closure:

A cute little gift for neighbors!

  2. Such a sweet idea. Our oregano did great this year. Our basil, not so much. =(

  4. Patti, this is a great idea! I had no idea you could dry herbs in the microwave. Love the way you've packaged them--but of course I love it! I always love the way you package things! :)

Thanks for joining Grace at Home--I'm featuring you this week!
