Another quick footstool makeover

This is the second footstool I bought at the auction last week.  I covered the wood with batting and fabric I purchased at the Stickley Sale.

I added an inexpensive fringe around the edge...

...and in less than 1/2 hour, it was complete:

A Quick Makeover with a Salt Bag

I bought a few footstools recently at the local auction.  I ripped off the old batting and fabric....

...and dry brushed some Valspar paint on it.  I love these little sample jars - 8 oz for $3!

I cut a new piece of batting a little larger than the top...

...and stapled on an old  salt bag:

To keep the "vintage look", I trimmed it with Crocheted lace that had a variety of buttons attached to it:

The trim was adhered with a glue gun!

A quick fix to an old footstool:

This didn't even take 1/2 hour to complete!

Now I have to makeover the other footstool!

I've been featured....

The Syracuse Post Standard publishes a supplement, Upstate Home,  every season in their Sunday newspaper.  In the spring issue, one of my old blog posts was featured, highlighting a spring accent piece for the garden:

Today the newspaper included the summer issue:

And surprisingly, I was featured again.  This time they highlighted another old post I did on garden markers.  I got this idea from Artsy Vava and they even mentioned her blog in the article!  Click HERE to see original post.

I wonder if I can come up with a clever idea for the fall issue?

Happy Summer!

We had a lousy spring here in Central NY, but our flowers are blooming, birds are singing and the sun is shining!

One of the things I enjoy most about summers are hot nights - crazy, huh?  And what better way to spend a hot summer evening than having an ice cold cocktail!

One of my favorite drinks is a "Skip and Go Naked"

This recipe is found in Susan Branch's The Summer Book.

(Be careful, after a few of these drinks, you might just want to Skip and Go Naked)

Rustoleum is going to hear from me!!

Remember this table I just refinished last week?  Well it has been sitting beside my couch for a few days.  This morning I moved it by the front door to bring it to the Shabby Chic Boutique to be sold.

WHAT???

What is this yellow tint all over it?

The "guy" at the store said it would not yellow!

There is no way I can sell this piece!

The thought of starting all over is so frustrating!

So I am off to write a letter to Rustoleum.  I use their spray paints all the time and LOVE them, so I had complete trust in this product.

I am hoping they will reimburse me for this!- Does anyone have a water base coating/varnish that they know will stay clear??

I will let you know what Rustoleum has to say about this!!

A Book Table Updated with Harlequin Top

I recently bought this table at the local auction.  The top was stripped and it was in sad condition - and once again, I got into the project without taking the before photo!

I used Valspar Courtyard Tan to cover the whole table - my new favorite color!  I just love Valspar's new color samples - 8oz for $3

The top is painted with a harlequin pattern in a darker tan, with gold dots and trim:

Just perfect for an end table:

It's off to Shabby Chic Boutique!

A cupboard makeover - shabby style

Why is it that many of us bloggers often forget to take "before photos"?   UUGGHHH, that infuriates me!.
Here is my cupboard in its primed state.  I think this might have been used to store record albums.  The last photo will show the inside.

I sprayed the metal round handles in a coppery-bronze color and after painting the piece, I sanded a few spots to distress it, and then waxed it!

LAZY me!  I decided to keep the inside in its original state
