Valentine Trash

We are having a Super Bowl Party on Sunday and I made some Valentine Trash for the teenagers who will be here:

I chopped up 14 Oreos and mixed it with cheerios and pretzels and spread them out on a piece of parchment paper:

I took about 2 cups of white chocolate and melted it in the microwave:

I poured the chocolate over the cookie mix and spread the chocolate around, tossing it with the cookie mix.  I then sprinkled some M&Ms and Valentine sprinkles on top:

After chilling it for a while I broke up the pieces and place the chunks in cupcake liners.

And of course set some aside for me to munch on!

Mmmm good!

And the "creative gene" carries on....

My grandson, Carter, 3 1/2 years old, made me the cutest bowl last month.  His Mom tried to guide him into making it black and white check....

but other colors caught his eye:

This was, by far, my favorite birthday gift!

Another Snowy Day, Perfect Pot Roast, and we do have chairs!

The table is set by the window so we can watch the snow fall from inside our warm, cozy home:

We are having salad and pot roast.  I found a great recipe somewhere online that is so easy and delicious (see below).

The centerpiece is a snowman cookie jar that I have had for many, many years:

Many readers have asked why my dining room table has no chairs - I do have chairs, and we do sit down to eat!!  I just don't keep the chairs around the table and this has to do with the way the room is designed, open to the foyer and the living room.  I just like it this way.

I often use my large Mackenzie-Childs canister as a wine chiller:

And if you look closely, you will see one of the dining chairs hiding in the corner!

Pot Roast
1 packet of dry gravy mix
1 packet of dry Italian dressing
1 packet dry onion soup mix
1 cup water
I put the dry mixes and water in a crock pot, add the roast and cook on medium all day.  I add the vegetables about 3 hours before dinner will be served.

And for dessert?  Homemade cookies from the cookie jar centerpiece!

Firmoo Eye Glasses

I'd like to introduce you to the
Firmoo First Pair Free program
(http://www.firmoo.com/free-glasses.html
where you can try Firmoo glasses
for FREE by
paying shipping only.

Recently I was contacted by Firmoo and they invited me to choose a pair of eyeglasses for free.   The website has many styles to choose from and it was a fun challenge to search for a pair that was a bit different than I would normally choose. The site is easy to use and there is a wide variety of frames, many that come in more than one color.

They offer a Virtual Try-On System that
helps you find the right frames.

You even are able to upload your own photo to try glasses virtually!!

These are my everyday glasses:

These are the glasses I chose ( #KLD8047).

I received my eyeglasses in 6 days!

I was pleasantly surprised to find how they
arrived:

I received 2 cases, a cleaning cloth and a
repair kit!

The eyeglasses are lightweight and very
comfortable!

My only complaint is that I THOUGHT I
ordered "reading" glasses, but received distant glasses. I know nothing about prescriptions, and I just copied from the prescription onto the website and I thought somewhere
that I clicked on "reading". So unfortunately I will not get a lot of use out of my new red
eyeglasses - but if you see me walking around
the neighborhood, I will be wearing them!

I am hoping you will go to their website and
stroll around a bit, maybe you will find yourself a
new style for spring!

Thanks Firmoo for this generous gift

And by the way, I love your logo - very clever!

That one odd plate....

Did you ever have an odd plate that you just can't get rid of?

A plate that you have moved from one cupboard to another?

One that is so pretty, but you have no use for?

A plate that you have no idea where it came from?

This is mine:

Maybe it's the delicate trim around the center of the plate...
...or the soft colors...
...or the gold trim...
...but whatever it is, I can't seem to trash it!

I came across an odd little stemmed glass and decided to adhere it to the plate to see if I could find some use for it:

Now I have a little stemmed dessert plate - that I still have no use for!

But it's pretty, isn't it?
