Milk Glass

I like milk glass - how can you not like it?
Some pieces bring back memories from my childhood.
I had only one of these dishes, but lucked out last week at GW and found 3 more for .49 ea.
I have a small collection, and...
I don't know how to display it...
...So, for now, some sit in a bookcase in my guest room.
And some are scattered around the room with cheery red flowers.
It's fun to collect something...BUT, I'm afraid I collect too, too many things! What do you collect?

I am joining Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville and Vintage Thingies Thursday at the Coloradolady . Visit these parties to see what other bloggers are "sharing and showing" this week.

  15. You have some really lovely milk glass. I too have always loved it.

Have you noticed that each week, there is one item that repeats in various posts - - - I think just by chance? WELL - - - this is the SECOND milk glass post I've found so far, so I'm thinking that is THE item that's going to surface and resurface this time!

  16. Patti you have beautiful milk glass! My mom used to collect it and I was able to salvage only one piece- a victorian compote dish.

I started collecting it without realising it...

  18. Milk glass brings back memories of my childhood as well. My Grandma Lawhon had many pieces. And yes, I too collect to many things. But someone must take care of it for future generations. (That's what I tell Hubs, anyway!)

  19. Oooh I love milk glass too! My mom gave me a ton of her's and your right, some pieces definitely bring back memories. I'm surprised how many pieces actually made it so long between my siblings and my mom's 4 grandkids. You know how little hands like to touch everything (yes I'm also talking about myself when I was little!)

  20. Great milk glass collection! I've got several pieces too, my favorite being a pitcher that I use as a vase. That last piece is fabulous, with the little vases inside the bowl! Love those dishes too. I don't remember ever seeing milkglass dishes before. Something to look for next time I go thrifting!
    Happy VTT!

  23. I just love the patterns in your milk glass, and it is always so pristine! Very pretty pieces, and you scored big on those three at 49 cents !

  24. I have to confess, up ntil just a few years ago, I thought milk glass was a glass that you drank milk out of. At our house, growing up, we had milk glasses, water glasses and juice glasses. The water glasses were the biggest the milk glasses were medium and the juice glasses were smallest.

I think with a big family, this was my moms way of portion control.

  27. Milk glass used to be very collectable and I hope one day it will come back in Antique Favor. Until then, those of us who love can find some real bargins like yours. Of all your pieces, the last picture of the ruffled hobnail footed bowl is my favorite. It might be a Fenton. If it's marked it'll will be a newer piece since the 70's if not it would be older....or not a Fenton. You might look it up. Nice collection...I collect it, too.

  28. Doesn't that milk glass really make those red flowers POP!! I love your collection :)

  29. Hi Patty,
Yes, it's me again. I saw your comment about Scrabble tiles. I have a 1950's Scrabble game that I found at a garage sale last summer for $1.00. It was a complete game, box in good condition....I searched high and low for that game last night to picture for my post and could not find it! It was driving me crazy. After spending way too much time searching I just posted without it. That goes to show you how organized I am!
Once I find it I'm sending it to you....I think someone who has Scrabble tournaments with her daughters and college friends needs to have it. I'll let you know when I uncover it!
