ALLEGEDLY....

My son-in-law, Ray, has been reading my blog lately and calls each night to make some snide, silly or sarcastic comment about the time of day I post... OR what I post... OR why I post...and so on. So this is a post to amuse myself and to entertain Ray. Ray is an ALLEGED lawyer, and anyday he will become and ALLEGED father (which will make me a grandmother for ALLEGEDLY the first time!!). He ALLEGEDLY works very hard everyday, but finds the time to read this blog. He enjoys calling me during my ALLEGEDLY favorite shows to amuse me with his "question of the day" or the "joke of the day" always ending with "one more thing...it will only take a minute..."...so, this is for you , Ray, and only you...ALLEGEDLY!!

Did I mention that Ray is a lawyer, ALLEGEDLY ? Here he is practicing for fatherhood:

I think he will ALLEGEDLY be a great Daddy!!

MacKenzie-Childs

How can you not love this bowl by MacKenzie-Childs ? I would like to have a whole set, but the lottery has not made me a winner yet. The original designers of the Courtly Check pattern were Richard and Victoria, who, I have heard, live on a ferry on the Hudson River. How exciting! Their daughter lives on the family land and runs the B&B and the Home Again gift shop in King Ferry, NY on Cayuga Lake. I just love to visit the this area, spending hours at the MacKenzie-Childs store, touring the farm house and having lunch at the Pumpkin Hill Bistro. To me it is the perfect day - especially if I have some extra money to purchase another piece in the Courtly Check pattern!

A quick salad to prepare....

Stawberry Basil Pasta

8 oz stawberries
8 oz shells, cook and drain
8 oz mozzarella balls
1/4 cup fresh basil, ribboned
1/4 cup sliced red onion
2 T balsamic viniagrette
2 T cranberry viniagrette
Mix it all together and garnish with basil leaves

Happy Memorial Day!

Spring blooms

A beautiful day in Central NY! Here are some of the colorful bushes I will leave behind when we move. Years ago I carefully planned that something in my yard would bloom as soon as another died off, from spring through the fall. I have to create that same idea in my new yard.

Shhhhh - don't tell the new owners!

Doing what I hate to do: I am carefully dividing some herb plants to take to my new home: oregano, chives, mint, egyptian onion and thyme. I'll leave the other halves behind in the hope that the new owners will enjoy them as much as I do. And I got the last basil and parsley plants at the nursery. (So now I can prepare Strawberry Basil Pasta for our Memorial Day Barbeque - recipe and photo on Monday

Put it over there...

I absolutely hate gardening...I especially detest dirty hands, abhor worms, loathe little bugs, despise weeds....but I love a garden!!

I am carefully plotting a way to con someone into digging up some of the lovely plants I have in my yard and transplanting them in my new yard.

I want to be the person who says "put it over there".

The back side

Here is the rear view of our new home. I think there will be plenty of room for my herb garden out here. Maybe I could plead with Susan Branch to visit for a few days and design it for me!

Our new home

We have finally sold our "starter home" and it only took 30 years for us to make the move!! If I could offer a suggestion to first time buyers, it would be to purchase your DREAM HOME, just in case you have to live in it as long as we did. But, we are finally making the move - to this beautiful new home, only a mile away. I have sleepness nights decorating it in my mind and can't wait to move in. I know where the Christmas trees will go, I have a "special spot" for the seasonal decorations and I have a kitchen to-die-for!

This is the "#1 house" that sold last month, however that deal fell through...lucky us!

And we are twice-lucky because we sold our "starter home" in 5 days.
